In this article, I go through the preliminary results of the Make Your Mark campaign across the UK this year.

Over the course of three months, young people from all across the UK had an option to make their voices heard in the largest exercise of youth democracy anywhere in Europe. There were multiple different options, both devolved, meaning it took place just in an area(s) and not nationally, and national, which featured on all Make Your Mark ballots across the UK. It was a huge success this year, garnering over 100,000 more votes than from 2022, and more than half a million people voting. A spokesperson for the British Youth Council, who, up until their closure on the 21st of March 2024, oversaw Youth Parliament, said “We’re proud so many people used their voice to tell decision makers what matters to them.”

Funded by the Department for Media, Culture, and Sport, the outcome of the campaign was a victory for the category of Health and Wellbeing. This mirrors the results of the previous Make Your Mark campaign, where Health and Wellbeing also won. A full report is yet to be released, but I will be sure to give a more detailed overview when it is released.
